ZONTA Austria commemorates International Women’s Day and ZONTA Rose Day.

Although women make up close to half the world’s population, 259 million fewer women have access to the Internet than men.

On März 8th, International Women’s Day, ZONTA International joins the global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The ZONTA community also marks März 8th as ZONTA Rose Day, a time to reflect on past achievements and honor the current efforts of individuals working toward gender equity.

“Never give up fighting for what you want to do. You can’t go wrong with
something where there is passion and inspiration.”
Ella Fitzgerald (Singer)

“Each year, ZONTA members around the world celebrate International Women’s Day and ZONTA Rose Day by giving tribute to the people who have most inspired them with gifts to the ZONTA Foundation for Women,” ZONTA International President Ute Scholz said. “It is because of generous donations such as these that we are able to build a better world for women and girls.”

Until now ZONTA Austria is informed that ZONTA Club St. Pölten and ZONTA Club Vienna I celebrate ZONTA Rose Day with special events, which are posted on ZONTA Austria Homepage:

This year’s International Women’s Day has two themes:

by International Women´s Day

DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality

by UN International Women´s Day

The UN-theme is in line to the theme of the upcoming 67th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW-67), März 6th, 2023 until März 17th, 2023, which is

“Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment
of all women and girls”

According to internationalwomensday.com, truly embracing equity “means to deeply believe, value and seek out difference as a necessary and positive element of life. To embrace equity means to understand the journey required to achieve women’s equality.”

ZONTA International has embraced equity for more than 100 years as a strong advocate of gender equality at the local, national and global levels,” Scholz said.

According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2022, it will take another 132 years to close the global gender gap.

“This is much too long! We demand sustainable actions to close this gap sooner,” Scholz said.

ZONTA Austria is proud to take part in the ZONTA community and all activities.

Each of ZONTA’s international service projects and education programs aim to provide life-changing opportunities for women and girls to achieve gender equity worldwide. Our members also engage at the local and national level in advocacy and awareness efforts focusing on ending gender-based violence, equal pay, closing the gender gap in male-dominated fields and more.

Up to now ZONTA Austria knows about and is able to promote events on the occasion of International Women’s Day organized by the ZONTA Clubs of St. Pölten and Vienna I. ZONTA Austria is proud to inform the community so it is possible to join in building a better world for women and girls.
